Things I've Built
Software platforms, RF infrastructure, hardware prototypes, and field systems — built in some of the most demanding environments on Earth.
POLAR Platform
Platform for Operations, Logistics and Research
An in-house digital logistics platform built from scratch for NCPOR's Arctic expeditions. POLAR handles end-to-end expedition planning — cargo tracking, personnel coordination, customs documentation, scientific data workflows, and field metadata logging. Replaces spreadsheets and paper trails with a unified system designed for polar conditions.
- ▸Manages full Arctic expedition lifecycle — pre-deployment to return
- ▸Python/Flask web backend + Android mobile interface
- ▸Supports multiple concurrent research teams and PIs
- ▸Presented at NCPS 2025 — Young Polar Scientist Best Oral & Best Poster
Vethiya Point VHF Repeater
200 km C18 Convoy Safety Communications
Engineered and established a critical VHF repeater at high-altitude Vethiya Point during the 43rd Indian Antarctic Expedition to restore line-of-sight communications for the 200 km C18 convoy route. A terrain-dictated dead zone meant convoy teams had no radio coverage — this installation closed that gap and became a permanent safety infrastructure improvement.
- ▸Sole engineer — designed, installed, and commissioned in-field
- ▸Operates in −40°C ambient conditions
- ▸Enables continuous HF/VHF comms across the full convoy route
- ▸Now part of standard Maitri station infrastructure
Dual-Band Yagi-Uda Antenna
7-element VHF/UHF handheld for satellite comms
Designed, 3D-printed, and commercialised a 7-element dual-band handheld Yagi-Uda antenna optimised for working LEO amateur satellites. Sold under the Hobbytivity brand. The antenna folds flat for transport and achieves consistent F/B ratio improvements over commercial alternatives at a fraction of the price.
- ▸Covers 144 MHz (VHF) + 435 MHz (UHF) simultaneously
- ▸FDM-printed boom and element mounts — fully reproducible
- ▸Tested on ISS SSTV and AMSAT-OSCAR passes
- ▸Multiple units sold to HAM operators across India
HABSAT
High Altitude Balloon Satellite — Stratosphere Telemetry
Systems Engineer for a high altitude balloon payload designed to reach the stratosphere (~30 km). Fabricated custom I2C multiplexer PCBs, integrated GPS and telemetry for recovery tracking, and coordinated sensor payload integration. The payload was successfully recovered after a free-flight mission.
- ▸Custom I2C multiplexer PCB — designed in Eagle CAD
- ▸Real-time GPS telemetry for ground track and recovery
- ▸Achieved target altitude of ~30,000 m
- ▸Full payload recovery post-flight
NCPOR Memento 2026
Official institutional design for NCPOR Foundation Day
Conceptualised and modelled the official institutional memento for NCPOR Foundation Day 2026 in Autodesk Fusion 360. Fabricated using FDM printing on a Bambu Lab P1S. The design is interactive and viewable in 3D on the portfolio homepage.
- ▸Full Fusion 360 parametric model
- ▸FDM fabrication — Bambu Lab P1S
- ▸Official NCPOR institutional piece
- ▸Interactive 3D viewer on portfolio
NCPS Conference Trophy
National Conference on Polar Sciences award design
Designed the award trophy for the National Conference on Polar Sciences (NCPS) 2025. Modelled in Autodesk Fusion 360 and fabricated via FDM printing. Interactive 3D model viewable on the portfolio homepage.
- ▸Conference award design from brief to physical piece
- ▸Parametric Fusion 360 model
- ▸Presented at NCPS 2025, Goa
CTD Oceanographic Observations
Kongsfjorden & Krossfjorden, Svalbard
Conducting bi-monthly CTD (Conductivity, Temperature, Depth) observations in Kongsfjorden and Krossfjorden using Sea-Bird V19 systems. Supporting acoustic mooring deployments and contributing oceanographic data to national research programmes on Arctic climate change.
- ▸Bi-monthly CTD casts — ongoing 2024–present
- ▸Sea-Bird V19 system operation and maintenance
- ▸Acoustic mooring deployment support
- ▸Data feeds into national Arctic climate research
